Christmas Cookery Club

On Monday afternoon, the Year 7 & 8 Christmas cookery club finished off their Christmas cakes.  The students have worked hard this half term on their cakes and they should all be proud of their finished result.  Mrs Farrow hopes that they taste as good as they looked.

16+ Options Event & Sixth Form Open Evening

On Thursday evening we will be hosting our 16+ Options Event, starting at 6pm. The purpose of the evening is to outline the variety of qualifications and vocational training paths available to your child once they have completed their GCSE examinations. Stowmarket Christmas Fayre

The Friends of Stowmarket High School will have a stall at the Christmas Fayre this evening, pop and along and say hello to them. The lights are being turned on by a former student Samantha Harvey. Samantha now has a recording deal with Virgin EMI Records and is on tour with Craig David and Rita Ora. We also have a Christmas tree on display in the church which has been decorated by some of our students.

Year 9 Culture Day

On Monday, 19th and Tuesday, 20th November Year 8 & 9 students were given the opportunity to sample some different aspects of Indian Culture.  The school were working with NEACO to inspire students to 'take their place' in the world.  Over the two days students were given a number of exciting opportunities: they learnt Bollywood moves with Jaya Dancing; Henna Art; Indian textile techniques which included block printing; the Indian alphabet and discovered more about the Indian language with a Cambridge University PhD student, found out the meanings of Hindu symbols and learnt more about Indian geography.  The days were a great success with many students wishing that they could spend more time learning about the Indian culture.  The three day event culminated in a visit on Wednesday by 120 students to the BAPS SHri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, London.

DofE Training Days 17th & 18th November 2018

The Year 10 Bronze D of E students have been meeting once a fortnight on a Thursday after school and have so far learnt to read a map, put up tents and cook a meal on a portable stove.On Saturday and Sunday we took our newly acquired skills out of the classroom and into the field; several fields actually!
